The Old Help Desk Site is Retiring!

As you may have seen in the Spring 2016 issue of Tech Know Bytes (available here), we have updated the IT Department website. This new site has brought together many of our separate working units into one location. During this change, the data that was originally located at http://www.uccs.edu/helpdesk was updated and copied to http://www.uccs.edu/it. More specifically, the how-tos and walk-throughs have moved to our new “Services” tab. Now that the data has moved, we will be working towards retiring the old help desk site.

What does this mean for you?

  1. Upon visiting the old help desk site you will be presented a popup alerting you of the change.
  2. The data that is currently in the help desk website will no longer be updated.
  3. If you are linking to any part of the help desk on your website, that link will no longer work once the site is archived.

Network Maintenance this Sunday (2/28/16)

Sunday morning (2/28/16), from 7:00am to 11:00am, we will be performing maintenance on the campus Internet connection. This maintenance is necessary to test our Internet failover system, which is required in the event that our primary Internet connection is disabled. During this time, there will be brief outages in Internet service.

These outages will affect the following services intermittently from 7:00am to 11:00am:

  • All UCCS websites will be unavailable intermittently (from off campus)
  • Authentication into
    • myUCCS Portal
    • Blackboard
    • Student Email
    • Faculty and Staff email (from off campus – affects both Exchange and OWA)
    • VPN

If you are trying to access any UCCS IT resources during this time, please wait for 15 minutes and try again.

Mediasite videos may be briefly unavailable sometime between 5 PM to 7 PM on February 19 while servers reboot for maintenance. If you are unable to play a video during this time frame, please wait 10 minutes and try to play the video again. This outage will only affect videos. No other systems are affected by this outage.

Emergency Maintenance:

Blackboard may be unavailable on Friday, February 12 from 1:30 a.m. until 3:30 a.m. MT due to system maintenance. Please plan your work around this time accordingly.
