Another Phishing Attempt: SUBJECT: User Profile Notification

We have received multiple reports or another phishing attempt trying to gain access to your username and password. If you have clicked on the link and entered your password, please contact us immediately via phone at 719-255-3536.  The website has been blocked on campus, however, it is still accessible from off campus.

 

When clicking on links within email please always proceed cautiously, never assume that the link is valid. Please take a second look at the address in your web browser. If you are ever unsure do not use the link provided in the email. Always go to the main UCCS webpage and navigate from there. This also holds true for any personal banking, financial or any other website that may contain personal information.

RESOLVED 3/4 – Wireless Network Issues 2-26-14 12:30 pm

We apologize for the delay in full restoration of the wireless network, progress is being made. Until we are able to resolve the root cause of this outage several work-arounds have been implemented allowing approximately 80% of devices to establish wireless connections.

 

As we continue to resolve the issue there may be intermittent outages impacting the wireless network throughout the day today.

The UCCS wireless network is having issues with some users connecting and getting an IP address.

We have been working on the issue but do not have a resolution at this time.

2/26/14

We are currently experiencing issues with the UCCS-Wireless network. At this time wireless is not allowing connections. We are working to resolve the issue.

This morning a phishing email was sent the entire campus with the subject of “Suspicious Sign In Prevented”.  This is someone trying to gain access to your account by having you click on a link to provide your username and password.  If you clicked on the link in the email and provided your password, please contact us immediately via phone 719-255-3536.

Below is the body of the email, you will notice that the link you are asked to click on ends in yolasite.com this is not a UCCS website. Additionally the uccs-edu section of the link contains a hyphen not a period. All valid UCCS hosted websites will contain uccs.edu with a period between uccs and edu.

    Subject: Suspicious Sign In Prevented

Someone recently used your password to try to sign in to your uccs.edu Account –

We prevented the sign-in attempt in case this was a hijacker trying to access your account. Please review the details of the sign-in attempt:

As of 11:40 am Blackboard service has been restored.

These outages are impacting all CU campuses and University Information Systems (UIS) is working to restore service as quickly as possible. We will be sure to pass along updates as we receive them. The next scheduled update will be 12:00 pm.

RESOLVED 2-13-14 4:00 AM: All Portals Unavailable Remainder of Day

Access to all portals was restored shortly after 4:00 am this morning. Please let us know if you experience any problems accessing the portals or if you receive errors while working within them.

All portals will be unavailable the remainder of the day and through the evening.  University Information Systems (UIS) has been troubleshooting the issue for the last several hours and has identified the cause.  The solution will take 10 hours to complete.

 

All portals including, but not limited to the following will be unavailable until tomorrow morning:

  • Student, Employee and Faculty Portals (My.uccs.edu)
  • Campus Solutions
  • HR and Finance Systems
  • DARS
  • Singularity (Document Management)

In follow up to today’s outage, UIS will be performing emergency server maintenance this evening (2/11/14) from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm.

 

All portals including, but not limited to the following will be unavailable during this time:

  • Student, Employee and Faculty Portals (My.uccs.edu)
  • Campus Solutions
  • HR and Finance Systems
  • DARS
  • Singularity (Document Management)

As of 1:50 pm UIS has restored service to all portals.  Please let us know if you experience any issues.

As of 12:00 pm UIS has identified the cause of the outage and they are actively working to resolve the issue and restore service as quickly as possible.

 

The next update will be sent at 1:00 pm unless service is restored sooner.
